This week, your Crystal Coast Waterkeeper, Larry Baldwin had the pleasure of helping to unload 400 bags of oyster shells at Down East Mariculture Supply Co. Tanks will be filled with water and oyster larvae. In about 12 days the shells and “spat” will be taken by boat and placed in nearby waters. The oysters will grow to be harvested and sold locally. Oysters are nature’s water filters. Each one filters up to 50 gallons per day. Thank an oyster and those that grow them! |

This week we’re taking the Eco-pet Challenge! We love our pets. Having a pet is scientifically proven to benefit our physical and mental health! However, pets can have an ecological paw-print contributing to negative environmental impacts. This week share a photo of your furry (or slimy or scaly or feathery) friend and one way you can be an eco-friendly pet owner |
